MYTH ABOUT ADOPTION: YOU CAN'T EVER SEE YOUR BABY AGAIN

That sounds so harsh, and maybe that is why adoption is so misconstrued.

You can, actually, choose the family for your baby depending on the type of adoption you seek. I'll explain further about why adoption is a great option for a woman who finds herself in an unintended pregnancy, or the woman who wants to offer more for her child. No matter what the reason may be, adoption is an option and an awesome one at that! Let's see why!

There are 3 different types of Adoption plans you can choose from that you feel would best benefit you and your child.

1. Open adoption- With this type of adoption, your child will get the opportunity to grow up knowing you, their birth mother. Communication with the child and new family will be through calls, letters, pictures, messages, or even visits. And you can hand-pick the family that will raise your child!

2. Partially open adoption- While you are still able to choose the new family for your child, you are all given a bit more privacy than with an open adoption. No detailed information such as location or full names will be shared. However, the adoption agency or lawyer can share letters or pictures with you of your child.

3. Confidential or closed adoption- This is a good option for the birthparents who want to remain anonymous. You will discuss your wishes for your child's new family with your adoption agent and they will select a family based upon your wishes.

Adoption has changed so much throughout the years, so should be seen with a new perspective! Adoption is not "giving up your baby", but rather giving TO your baby the life you think he or she deserves. Birthmothers who choose adoption are heroes in my book! Such a selfless act of love!
